Sands and MGM cleared from Macau smoking law breaches
In August, the Health Bureau issued an official notification for the investigation of MGM Macau after its workers accused the operator of setting up smoking zones in gaming areas meant for non-smoking activities.
In the case of Sands China, it was alleged that there were two sections of the mass-market floor of the Venetian Macau which had turned into VIP areas that allowed smoking and gambling inside them.
However, in a statement released on Friday, Macau’s Health Bureau dismissed complaints against the two operators, and found them both to be compliant of the smoking law.
Last month, the Committee behind Macau’s proposed universal smoking ban promised that a final decision on the ban would be made by the end of the current tenure of the Legislative Assembly in 2017.
