IGT unveiled its newest After School Advantage computer lab at the Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday.

The Preston Taylor Club provides youth with a safe and positive after-school environment where they can receive quality youth development programming. The opening is part of a worldwide program IGT implemented in 1999 to serve at-risk youth in communities where the Company does business. IGT provides government lotteries and commercial gaming industry with proven solutions across the entire continuum of products and channels, and is the technology partner to the Tennessee Education Lottery. The Lottery provided funding for 73 after-school programs during 2015-2016, serving 17,311 students throughout the state.

"The Lottery’s impact on education in Tennessee continues to grow,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery. “We are proud to partner with IGT to strengthen valuable after-school programs in various locations throughout the state. By helping provide computer labs, students have a chance to practice and expand computer literacy skills at an early age.”

As part of the $17,000 donation, the Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club received 12 Dell desktop computers, a laptop, a laser printer, assorted learning software, and furniture for the room

IGT Tennessee employees worked with the Boys & Girls Club to customize this computer lab to suit the needs of its students. The computer lab will be available for the students of Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club during after-school hours.

“IGT is providing students with access to a powerful combination of educational resources and technology, opening doors to a vast range of opportunities and leading them toward an exciting future,” said Chris Shaban, Regional Vice President of IGT. “IGT is proud to support Nashville youth through our After School Advantage Program and applauds the community impact made by the Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club.”

Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club operates to enable all young people, especially those most in need to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens

"The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee is extremely appreciative and fortunate to have our Preston Taylor Club as the location selected to receive the latest IGT Tech Center. The IGT Tech Center will pave the way for higher learning among our Club members. Our Club members will get a chance to explore coding, design apps, and build and program robots in robot tech,” said Dan Jernigan, President/CEO of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. “Through this opportunity, the digital divide that exists among many our youth today will be less, simply because of this IGT Tech Center.”

The event marks the 282nd IGT After School Advantage lab opening worldwide for the charitable giving program.
