New hotel and casino could come to Tullamore
Patrick Leneghan, the businessman behind the Bridge House Hotel Spa and Leisure Club in Tullamore, has announced that he intends to submit a formal application for the proposed development with the Offaly County Council, according to the radio broadcast.
According to a planning notice that, the 86-room hotel is to be located in Tullamore’s town center at Water Lane and Distillery Lane and would involve the redevelopment of the Malt Kiln and Malt House, both protected structures, as reported by the news agency.
In addition to what would be one of the Midlands’ largest hotels, the project would also include a casino, three retail units, a bar and restaurant, conference center, and a bridge that would link the Bridge House Hotel and the proposed hotel.
While Northern Ireland has no casinos as they are prohibited in that area of the country, there are several in the Republic of Ireland including the city of Dublin, where the Fitzwilliam Casino & Card Club is the largest.
