As reported by AGS, the 2016 G2E was unlike any other in the company's history. With a bigger booth and dynamic new product offerings, the gaming supplier impressed casino operators. In a sit-down interview with Yogonet, Julia Boguslawski explains how the company's initiatives have resulted in growth.

Why was G2E Las Vegas a good fit for your company and how did attendees respond to your products and booth?

AGS is one of the few gaming suppliers in growth mode, and we have undergone major transformations on both the product and leadership side in a very short period of time. As a result, we really amped up our presence at G2E this year, using the show as an effective platform to share our new story and products, gain even greater awareness, and expose the industry to the many exciting value propositions AGS has to offer global casino operators.

Our customers were impressed with both our new booth and new product offerings; I think we exceeded expectations on both fronts. Between the three days, we had hundreds of high-value meetings that resulted in signed contracts and purchasing commitments. We couldn’t have asked for a better reception from customers, the investment community, and the media.

What were the highlights of your booth at this year’s G2E?

This year’s G2E was unlike any other in AGS’ history

We had a bigger booth in a high-traffic, prime location, a playful and bold new booth concept and design, and new product offerings that set the backdrop for our theme: “Play harder. Play smarter. Play AGS.”
The star of our booth was our new premium portrait slot cabinet Orion™. It’s truly next-level for us in terms of aesthetic, construction and features, such as an incredible, never-seen-before lighting design with a 42” HD portrait monitor. A ring of nearly 500 game-controlled, emotive, LED lights encircle the cabinet from the floor up, which makes the cabinet look as though it’s floating off the floor. We also showcased our high-performing ICON™ cabinet and its accompanying suite of vibrant new games, along with our powerhouse specialty cabinet Big Red™ featuring the widely popular Colossal Diamonds®.

In our Table Products segment, we unveiled our first-ever card shuffler, the Dex S™, which is a single-deck, commercial-grade shuffler that features a streamlined design with less moving parts; it’s an exceptionally functional and economical piece of table equipment. We also showcased the new white-label version of Bonus Spin™, which is a customizable, virtual prize wheel that connects to any table game in the pit. This product is really unique because it allows casinos to offer a progressive top prize, a fixed top prize, or even an experience-based prize as the top award, allowing them to both customize the prizes and target different player segments.

What was the hot topic for operators during G2E?

One of the topics we heard come up again and again with customers is how best to integrate the gaming experience in more social/bar-type settings to attract millennials. This is nothing new; the industry has been fixated on how to appeal to the changing demographics of casino patrons of the future for some time now. Operators are really trying to be creative as to how they can capitalize on this up-and-coming demographic and are very open to new technologies that can help capture millennials’ attention.

Because of this, we saw a lot of interest in our white-label Bonus Spin technology, which makes the table game experience more social, more interactive, and more enticing from a prize perspective – all things millennials crave in an entertainment experience

How is this year going for the company? What is coming next?

AGS has enjoyed an absolutely momentous year, setting all sorts of new company records and really reshaping the way we are perceived by the marketplace. Throughout 2016, our ICON cabinet has achieved exceptional reception and performance, exceeding our expectations. Our table products library is as strong as ever, with a broad and deep range of different products to suit nearly every need in the pit. We’ve been expanding at a rapid clip due to new licenses and jurisdictional approvals. And perhaps most importantly, our strong and well-renowned corporate culture has really helped drive our results. We make our employees feel valued every day and as a result, our team goes the extra mile to deliver wins because they love AGS. We’re a place where people want to work and we’re very proud of that.

We’re gearing up for 2017 and expect to continue the great momentum we enjoyed in 2016. Our priorities are to ensure a successful rollout of the Orion cabinet, which – based on the volume of commitments from G2E – is already off to a strong start. Our priorities will continue to center on creating high-performing games for the core gambler, which we believe is our bread and butter. We’re also focused on ensuring a successful launch of both the Dex S card shuffler and Bonus Spin; we expect all of these newly introduced products to help drive continued growth into 2017.
