Detroit casino revenue down from August, up from 2015
Revenue totaled $112.2 million at the MGM Grand, MotorCity and Greektown casinos last month, down 3.2 percent from August. However, the aggregate revenue was up 5.1 percent from the same period a year ago.
MGM again saw biggest revenue increase compared to a year ago, with revenue jumping 7.2 percent to 48.5 million. MotorCity Casino revenue increased by 3.6 percent to $37 million. Greektown revenue rose 0.3 percent to $26.7 million. Last month, Greektown revenue had fallen 0.3 percent.
The casinos’ year-to-date revenue was 1.7 percent higher than the first nine months of 2015.
Compared to the third quarter 2015, MGM’s revenue increased 9.1 percent to $150 million. MotorCity quarterly revenue increased 3.5 percent to $115.4 million, and Greektown’s quarterly revenue went up 0.5 percent to $81.1 million.
Market shares changed slightly compared to August, though MGM still led the pack with 44 percent of the market. MotorCity had 33 percent and Greektown had 24 percent.
The casinos paid $9.1 million to the state in September, up from 8.7 million a year ago.
