Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and Attorney General Luther Strange are asking law enforcement officials to shut down newly reopened electronic gambling operations, including one at VictoryLand.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and Attorney General Luther Strange are asking law enforcement officials to shut down newly reopened electronic gambling operations, including one at VictoryLand.
Both leaders sent letters to the sheriffs and district attorneys of Macon and Lowndes counties.

They asked to hear their enforcement plans by September 30.
VictoryLand reopened on September 13 to enthusiastic crowds. The casino had been shuttered since 2013 when the state seized the casino’s gambling machines.
VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor said at the reopening that sheriff and district attorney have assured him the games are legal.
