Tony Argery is the owner and director of Funhouse Group of Companies. He started in the business in the business in 1982 placing machines in service stations, corner stores, video shops and other small business, Argery soon decided that the profit -share “street run” he oversaw didn’t offer the control he desired. A ket objective for Argery has been "raising standards in the amusement sector, the company said in a statement.
“After building up the run for a couple of years it was becoming difficult to ensure that small business owners looked after machines. Most didn’t clean machines or inform me that there was a problem and turn the machine off. I wanted our product range to be a quality product and maximise the opportunity for profit. We supplied the sites with latest pinballs and upright cabinets and they needed to be looked after.”
This provided the motivation in 1984, he said, to look to open the first Funhouse Family Entertainment Centre in shopping centres. Fast forward several decades and there are now several Funhouse retail shops, including the Funhouse Club Division Servicing Clubs and hotels throughout Australia. During that time, Argery has seen the Australian amusement business evolve considerably, with a number of changes ultimately transforming the sector.
“I have been an exhibitor with AGE for over twenty years with various good companies and are currently expanding Funhouse Club Division brand throughout Club land and I have always chosen the AGE Expo first when we do our budgets for the year,” Greg O’Malley, General Manager of Funhouse Club Division said.
“I now believe that our Funhouse Club Division will drive high standards throughout the licensed venues market, thus helping venues with high standards and happy customers. The venues themselves have provided us with great feedback and we have brought this to our Association attention requesting our amusement members to be conscience of higher standards for venues.”
