“There’s a terrific culture here,” Mr. Carlucci said. “That’s why I joined the organization. I love the culture so much. It’s very welcoming.”
The 55-year-old comes from Staten Island and has more than 30 years of experience in the casino and hospitality business. Mr. Carlucci replaces Mike Bean at the Plains Twp. casino, who announced his resignation in May.
In 2012, Mr. Bean replaced Bobby Soper when he was named president and CEO of Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Mr. Soper has since become and president of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority.
Like previous casino presidents, Mr. Carlucci said he plans to be involved in the community.
“We want to continue to be very community-oriented,” he said.
Mr. Carlucci started working in the casino industry in Atlantic City at a young age in the food and beverage area and worked his way up the chain.
He wasn’t sure what was going to happen to the gambling industry in Atlantic City at that time so he decided to go back to school when he was 30.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Richard Stockton College in Atlantic City and later earned a Master of Business Administration from DeVry University Keller Graduate School of Management.
Most recently, he has held management positions with Penn National Gaming casinos.
