USD 50M Ovalle Casino Resort opens its doors

The new Ovalle Casino Resort opened on Saturday before its official deadline – September 4.

The casino has the right to operate for fifteen years. The newly opened venue features 230 slot machines, 13 gaming tables and 60 bingo seats. The sum of US$ 50M was invested in the casino, which is one of the highest private investments that ever appeared in the history of Ovalle.

The building process began in late 2014 and it created more than 300 local jobs. It is expected to ultimately form over 1500 jobs. The company that operates the casino was granted an extension for September 2016 to open the casino. The rest of the facilities are expected to be added in March 2017. the whole resort will ultimately consist of a 78 room four star hotel, four restaurants, an open-air amphitheatre and a museum, wine spa and observatory.

What is more, the new casino resort is expected to help turn the region into tourist destination in an easy way while meeting the needs of the local people. Boldt from Argentina and Grupo Peralada from Spain, representatives of the Spanish Argentine group Ovalle Casino Resort SA were given the rights to operate the final casino licence in Chile back in September 2013.

The group achieved a total of 1,825.79 points out of a possible 2,000 points that were available to get during the careful licence process after Casino Austria, that initially owned the licence, left the project in 2012.
