Maryland casino revenues increased 5% in July to USD 103.8M compared to the same period last year. The July total was the third time that the monthly has passed USD 100M since the state’s first casino opened in 2010.

Four of the state’s five casinos reported positive year-on-year increases in revenue, including Rocky Gap Casino Resort which won $5.1 million. Maryland Live, the state’s largest casino with more than 3,900 slots and 206 table games, won $60.5 million.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore saw its win increase 2.5 percent to $25 million while the Casino at Ocean Downs also finished July with a 2.5 percent increase to $6.6 million

Holywood Casino Perryville was he only Maryland gambling hall to finish July behind last year’s total. It was 1.9 percent lower at $6.8 million.

The scheduled December opening of MGM’s National Harbor appears to guarantee Maryland will finish the year on a very positive note.

Talking about the finishing touches being put in place last week, MGM CEO Jim Murren said, “They are literally placing slot machines on the floor already. The carpeting is going down, they are energizing the building.”
