Delta Corp to operate Sikkim casino

Increasing its gaming footprint, a leave and license agreement has been signed by Delta Corp Ltd (NSE: DELTACORP), the largest gaming company in India, to operate a casino inside the Denzong Regency Hotel in Gangtok, Sikkim.

Increasing its gaming footprint, a leave and license agreement has been signed by Delta Corp Ltd (NSE: DELTACORP), the largest gaming company in India, to operate a casino inside the Denzong Regency Hotel in Gangtok, Sikkim.

The premises inside of the hotel are being refurbished by Delta Corp Ltd, which owns The Deltin Group, and it should be ‘casino ready’ in the next three months. In addition to the leave and license agreement, a provisional license for the same has also been obtained by Delta Corp from the Government of Sikkim under the 2002 Casino (Control & Tax) Act, according to the Money Mint report.

Approximately 150 gaming positions will be offered by the company in its new live gaming casino, adding to the approximately 1,500 it currently offers in its three offshore casinos in Goa. The move by Delta, which operates under the Deltin brand, establishes its presence in the small state in northwest India and caters to the Eastern region market.

The Sikkim casino adds to Delta Corp’s current casino properties, including the Deltin Royale and Deltin Jaqk, which operate in Goa, as well as India’s first offshore live gaming casino, the Deltin Caravela. The Company, which owns 51 percent of Daman Entertainment Pvt.Ltd, will soon launch its Daman operations, The Deltin. The onshore hotel and casino will include approximately 60,000 square feet of gaming space and offer about 1,000-1,500 gaming positions.

Recently, Delta Corp announced that Goa’s state government renewed the gaming license for its subsidy, Delta Pleasure Cruise Company, and Deltin Caravela, was approved by the caption of ports (CoP) to operate at Mandovi River, bringing the total number of casinos floating on the river in Goa in India to five.
