Consumer activity observer Nielsen recent report on gambling firms showed that gambling companies in the UK have spent £456 million over the last three years on TV advertising.

Figures compiled by Nielsen show that spend increased from £81.2 million in 2012 to £118.5 million in 2015, a rise of 46%. Making the total amount the industry has spent over the three year to £456 million.

Nielsen also stated that those figures do not include a further £169 million spent on lottery adverts. The figures shown do not include the recent increase in advertising spend for the run-up to the Euro 2016 football tournament.

In 2013 Ofcom reported that TV adverts for bingo, casinos and sports betting had soared by 500% in the last six years.

However that spend helped the gambling industry report revenues of £12.6 billion, up from £9 billion in 2012.
