Senator Fernando Bezerra Coelho of the PSB-PE requested to remove Tuesday's voting on the bill that aims at legalizing gambling operations in Brazil.

According to Mr. Bezerra Coelho, Brazilian senators are currently discussing the project with members of the Federal Police and the Attorney General's Office, seeking to improve it. He said the new draft should be ready to be addressed on the floor by the end of August.

Senator Ciro Nogueira of the PP-PI, the author of the PLS 186/2014 bill, agreed to postpone the voting although he requested Mr. Bezerra Coelho to have the final text ready for the end of July so that the Upper House can start treating it the first week of August.

Meanwhile, Senator Magno Malta of the PR-ES renew his criticism of the legalization push, saying he will ramp up efforts to stop the passing of the project of law.
