We hear you are celebrating 30 years of business this year, can you tell us a bit more about Karo and your secret to success?

That’s right, we were established 30 years ago. Karo is a specialist manufacturer of seating products for the gaming industry, and our club, hotel and casino clients are spread across five continents.

Gaming stools are a significant investment for most clubs and hotels, and it is essential that they satisfy the requirements of both the venue operator and the patrons. For the venue operator, a reliable product and service package is a priority. The patrons, on the other hand, demand ergonomic comfort. At Karo, we constantly strive to develop new products and components to meet the demands of an ever-changing market, thereby providing seating solutions that best meet the requirements of both the venue operators and patrons. As an example, our unique Nylon EZI-GLIDE Disc Base enables our stools to ‘glide’ almost effortlessly over any carpeted or hard surface. This allows patrons and staff to easily manoeuvre the stools into position while reducing the risk of injury.

At Karo, all our products are designed and manufactured through a participative approach between our design engineers, our suppliers, and most importantly, our customers. Design concepts and prototypes are refined in conjunction with current research in ergonomics, and this integrated approach together with our commitment towards the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, allows us to offer a 7-Year Warranty on all our gaming stool ranges (T&C's apply).

What do you expect from the upcoming Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE)?

In the past, we have found that the AGE provides us with an ideal opportunity to launch new products and catch-up with both old and potential clients, and we believe that this year’s event will be no different.

What products will you be showcasing?

In August, we will introduce two new products at the AGE that we believe will take gaming stools “to the next level”.

The first is our DUAL-DENSITY moulded seat foam that provides an extraordinary level of comfort. The DUAL DENSITY seat incorporates two levels of firmness – both constructed in-house from durable CFC-free moulded polyurethane foam. The two levels of firmness provide different deflection characteristics, thereby encouraging an anatomically-correct posture that increases comfort. Widely used in the automotive industry, this cutting-edge technology has long been recognised by ergonomic experts as well as occupational health and medical professionals, as being able to deliver superior comfort by providing enhanced support and cushioning.

The second is the launch of our new Apollo VIP range of gaming stools. This new range includes a high backrest for improved player comfort and, as with all our VIP ranges, is available with a broad choice of options and configurations.
