Erhvervsinvest buys iGaming operator and slot machine manufacturer Gaming

Gaming is currently the second-largest provider of online casino options in Denmark as well as a leading manufacturer of slot machines for the local gambling industry.

With Denmark regulating its online gambling market in 2012, Gaming launched Spillehallen, known to be the only online casino brand to be offering Danish slot games. The website has been featuring traditional casino games, such as blackjack and roulette, as well as slot titles since 2015.

Commenting on the acquisition deal, Erhvervsinvest CEO and Managing Partner Thomas Marstrand said in a statement that Gaming is a well-managed and solid company that has reported a considerable growth over the past several years. The executive further noted that Gaming has been placed on a strong platform and that they are looking forward to realize greater synergies between the country’s land-based and online gaming markets, particularly with regards to gaming development and marketing.

According to figures posted for the past five years, Gaming has reached an annual growth rate of an average of 34% since 2011. The company was formed in 2010 as the result from the merger between Dansk Automat Expert and CompuGame, with both of them being leading Danish slot machine manufacturers at that time. Since established, Gaming was owned 50/50 by Dansk Automat Expert Holding and private investor Genua.

Commenting on the acquisition deal, Gaming A/S CEO Erik Boye Hansen said that they are looking forward to partnering with Erhvervsinvest, given the latter’s experience in the gaming industry related to previous investments in the sector. Mr. Hansen further noted that they are convinced the partnership would result in the gambling company’s accelerated development.

Mette Grunnet, Genua owner and Chair of the firm’s Board of Directors, said that it was their main goal to create a solid and well-managed company and that their hard work has resulted in the establishment a healthy business now being sold in order to be taken to the next level of its development by employees and new owners.
