The signatory authorities aim at the implementation of appropriate procedures intending to strengthen their controls, improve regulation in the field of online gambling and fight illegal gambling.
The agreement sets out a mutual collaboration plan intended to drive efforts to safeguard that online gambling is conducted in a fair and open way, to avoid excessive and unregulated gambling, to prevent gambling from being a source of crime and disorder, as well as to protect vulnerable people from addiction or exploitation.
This bilateral cooperation agreement will strengthen and complement the general framework of the cooperation agreement on online gambling services signed by the gambling regulatory authorities of EEA Member States, dated November 2015.
Nick Tofiluk, UK Gambling Commission’s Director of regulation said, “We are pleased to announce this bilateral agreement with the SIRJ as part of our continuing co-operation. Working together with other international regulators is essential to effective gambling regulation and MoUs are a useful way of formalising and streamlining the procedures for information sharing as an aid to efficient and effective collaboration."
