Held at the newly refurbished Lagoonda complex at Aberdeen, people from all walks of life, both local and international converged to celebrate with the management of Games World International, the company that will run and manage the casino.
Some were strictly dressed in lounge suits, while others dressed down looking smart in their casuals and African attire, making the hall more colourful and smashing under the decorative lighting of the hall.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Games World International, Tani Hanna, his company was established some twenty years ago providing quality gaming service to various countries around the world.
He disclosed that Sierra Leone is the first to get state of the art digitalized gaming equipment, which will make gambling more interesting.

Mr Hanna said the casino is well equipped and has enough machines to entertain all those who will want to engage in a game of chance, but cautioned that the casino is restricted to persons less than 18 years.
Apart from the gaming machines, the CEO added that the complex has other side entertainments for all categories and called on members of the public to patronize Lagoonda Entertainment Complex as they are regarded as partners in the business to make Games World International achieve its objective of success.
On behalf of Government, Tourism and Culture Minister Sidi Tunis commended the executive of Games World International for investing in the country, noting that despite the ebola epidemic, Games World took the risk to invest and establish one of the best casinos in Africa, which will serve as a hub to bring in more investment to the country, stressing that Lagoonda should assist government to protect and preserve tourist attraction to build capacity in the industry.
Mr Tunis furthered that as part of Government’s rebranding strategy in the private sector, tourism is an important sector for economic growth, taking into consideration that the ebola scourge affected the economy, and it is now that the country is trying to pick up its broken pieces.

After the official ceremony, guests were led on a conducted tour of the gaming facility were some of the guests indulged themselves in various games of chance, as they dined and wine through the night.
Speaking to Awoko, most of the guests from both public and private sectors were impressed and appreciated the opening of the casino, noting that there are other casinos, but with digitalized machines, there is more trust that they stand a chance of more winning than losing.
A parent also commented on the interior design of the complex as excellent, but expressed concern that the management should have provided games machines for children in a different section within the facility to give children the opportunity to have fun while parents indulge themselves in games of chance.
