According to Sean Coyle, director of operations for Casino Nova Scotia Sydney, an expanded entertainment space, new carpet, fresh paint, and a rebranded restaurant is geared toward giving the patrons of the Sydney casino a “new feel” as they make their way into the casino.

The Casino Nova Scotia Music Hall of Fame located on the mezzanine level is a new feature that will be available to the public via Centre 200.

Coyle said: “We’re capturing a new use for that space on the level when (people) first walk in,” according to the Cape Breton Post.

Coyle went on to say: “The hall of fame is a partnership we have with Music Nova Scotia. Now all four music industry associations from across Atlantic Canada are contributors to that hall of fame. Each association elects in a member (to the hall of fame) every year.”

During renovations, The All Star Grille, which is the casino’s main food outlet, was shut down for about a five-week period. In another part of the casino, only daily lunch and dinner buffets were offered during that time. Since then, the restaurant has reopened.

Only a few changes were made to the casino’s 11,100 square foot gaming floor, while slot machine numbers were reduced to 272 from 276 to make room for marketing, according to Coyle. The gaming floor still has one Let It Ride table game and four Blackjack tables. And a roulette table is reappearing as a table game on the casino floor as well. “We haven’t had (roulette) at the casino for five or six years. We wanted to switch up the tables a little bit,” he said. A multi-purpose space for medium and small-sized events and a full-service bar are also included in the venue.

A June 16 grand reopening celebration is being planned. Owned by Great Canadian Gaming Corp., Casino Nova Scotia, recently celebrated its 20th year anniversary in Sydney.
