Macau casinos would benefit from the presence of sports betting lounges. That’s the view of FootballBet.com CEO David Leppo who made a presentation at last week’s G2E Asia conference and trade show in Macau.

Noting that there are no such facilities in the casinos now, Leppo said, “Sports betting lounges are a necessary part of a well-rounded casino product.”

He said sports betting will not only lure customers but it keeps them in casinos longer than they might otherwise be there by offering a variety of activities “that capture their interest.”

Current Macau regulations make it difficult for casino operators to increase of gaming tables, “resulting in a large space on the casino floor that is not bringing in revenue.”

But a Las Vegas style sports and race book would quickly solve that challenge “instantly, almost overnight.” Leppo said sports lounges are “necessary elements  for the new Macau.”
