Detroit casino revenue climbs 1.5% in April

Revenue for the city's three casinos climbed 1.5% in April compared to a year earlier, but fell 2.1% from March.

Revenue for the city's three casinos climbed 1.5% in April compared to a year earlier, but fell 2.1% from March.

Year-to-date aggregate revenue, meanwhile, rose 0.6 percent compared to last year, the Michigan Gaming Control Board said Tuesday.

MGM Grand Detroit's monthly revenue dropped 2.7 percent in April to $50.5 million compared to a year earlier.

MotorCity Casino Hotel posted $42.3 million in first-quarter revenue, up 4.5 percent.

Greektown Casino-Hotel's April revenue rose 4.9 percent to $29.5 million.

MGM has the largest market share at 41 percent, compared to 35 percent for MotorCity and 24 percent for Greektown.

In April, the three casinos paid the state $9.9 million in gaming taxes compared to $9.8 million a year earlier. Detroit, meanwhile, collected $14.6 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments last month.
