MGM Springfield to share casino plans with the community

The public is invited to the next meeting of the Armoury-Quadrangle Civic Association on Thursday, May 19, to hear from MGM Springfield officials about the latest plans for its USD 950M casino project.

The May 19 meeting will be at 7 p.m. MGM Springfield, led by President Mike Mathis and his team, will be presenting updates on all aspects of the MGM project in downtown Springfield, according to the meeting announcement.

There has been demolitions and other site works in the recent months within the 14.5 acre casino footprint between State Street and Union Street, including the relocation of the First Spiritualist Church and demolition of the former YWCA building while saving some of its exterior features.

The casino is scheduled to open in September of 2018.
