James Packer's online sports-betting company has been convicted of breaching state betting laws by offering inducements for NSW residents to gamble.

CrownBet pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching state betting laws that prohibit advertising inducements, by offering bonus points rewards and bonus bets in October and December last year, but the company unsuccessfully sought to have the matters finalized without conviction.

Magistrate Joanne Keogh said convictions were necessary to deter others and to protect the vulnerable. She ordered CrownBet to pay a total of $10,500 in fines and Liquor & Gaming NSW's $10,000 legal costs.
