Ohio's casinos and racinos took in more money statewide last month than in the previous March, which itself was a record month. Total revenue was up 1.1% at the state's casinos and 8.1% at racinos over March 2015.

In the Columbus area, Scioto Downs saw a 2.6 percent revenue increase, to $13.4 million. Hollywood Casino Columbus reported a 3.5 percent revenue increase, to $18.9 million. The statewide revenue totals were $78.6 million for racinos and $73.7 million for casinos.

The state totals reflect a one-day shutdown of Thistledown Racino in Cleveland in early March, as it rebranded to JACK Thistledown Racino after being bought by JACK Entertainment (formerly Rock Gaming).

The company also bought the Horseshoe Cleveland Casino in downtown Cleveland, and plans to rebrand that as JACK Cleveland Casino in early May.

The year-over-year percentage gain for Belterra Park in Cincinnati reflects the fact that the venue was closed for four days in mid-March 2015 as a result of flooded roads.
