US: Schenectady casino pays USD 50M for gaming license

Rivers Casino & Resort submitted its USD 50M payment for a gaming license on Thursday.

The casino operator announced the payment, saying the city and Schenectady County will each receive $2.5 million from the payment.

 

The entire project, dubbed the Rivers Casino and Resort at Mohawk Harbor, is expected to cost $480 million.

 

 

Another $5 million will be distributed to surrounding counties and the state will keep the rest.

The casino and surrounding entertainment and hotel complex is underway along Erie Boulevard. Operators have said they hope to have the casino open in 2017.

The entire project, dubbed the Rivers Casino and Resort at Mohawk Harbor, is expected to cost $480 million.

In addition to the casino, it will include a lagoon with slips for 50 boats, condominiums, two hotels, a bike path, pedestrian walkway and a variety of other amenities.
