Sheldon Adelson’s fight against online gambling inside the US seems to be over after announcing he is dropping his Restore America’s Wire Act or RAWA bill.

Essentially the effort was to outlaw all US states from running online gambling including those who currently legally offer online gambling such as New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware.

With a Presidential election looming and RAWA been dragging along without any success the billionaire feels his efforts may lie with the race to the White House

The boss of Las Vegas Sands who has always been opposed to online gambling saying it is a scourge on society said he now has more important priorities to think about.

Billionaire Adelson is rumoured to be considering in the future to target offshore online gambling firms focussing on the US market, whether this will ever see any movement is unclear, but with a Presidential election looming and RAWA been dragging along without any success the billionaire feels his efforts may lie with the race to the White House.

It is said that new directions have led Sheldon Adelson  to face more serious oppositions from several legislators and various states who claim the bill compresses the rights of those individual states.

RAWA hearings didn’t go all too well either. Each time there was a hearing, supporters didn't have real pertinent information to back up their claims.

Although the new bill or revamped bill will have some similarities to the current one, crackdown will be more focused on illegal offshore operators and not online gambling being offered in the states by state regulated operators.
