Colorado casino revenues rose 5.9% to $790.1 million last year, the fifth-biggest increase among the two dozen states with legalized gaming, according to a report Thursday from RubinBrown.

Of the four states with faster gaming revenue gains than Colorado, three had opened new casinos last year. Only Florida had stronger "organic" commercial gaming growth than Colorado.

Colorado accounts for 2.1 percent, or just over $1 out of every $50 generated by commercial gambling, which excludes tribal casinos and online betting.

The revenue increase, which reversed a slight decline between 2013 and 2014, boosted state gambling tax collections by 7.2 percent to $113.8 million last year.

Commercial gaming excludes tribal casinos, limited stakes betting and online gambling sites.

Nevada remains the nation's gambling hub, with a 29 percent share of commercial gambling revenues. But those revenues rose only 1.2 percent last year, and the $11.1 billion generated remains 13 percent below the peak reached in 2007.

Pennsylvania was the next-biggest state for commercial gambling, at $3.17 billion, followed by Louisiana, at $2.65 billion, and New Jersey, at $2.4 billion. New Jersey suffered the largest decline in commercial gambling revenues of any state last year, 7.8 percent, while Ohio had the biggest gain, 13.3 percent.

Colorado accounts for 2.1 percent, or just over $1 out of every $50 generated by commercial gambling, which excludes tribal casinos and online betting.

Colorado accounted for about 1.1 percent of all gambling revenues generated in the country last year.
