The Special Committee of National Development (CEDN) approved Wednesday an amended version of SB 186/2014 made by Blairo Maggi (PR-MT).

In December 2015, the special committee from the so-called Brazil Agenda had approved the text. But after a political hurdle, the Senate was forced to revise the bill again.

SB 186/2014 was supposed to be discussed by the Senate on March 2, but due to a delay in the review process, the date was rescheduled. Blairo Maggi had presented 16 amendments to the bill, from which five were incorporated to the final text.

One of the main points of the amended bill focuses on the suitability requirements of those legal entities looking to carry out business activities in the country. Another, is aimed at preventing public officials -and their relatives- from obtaining licenses to exploit gambling activities in the country.
