The new merged Paddy Power-Betfair group, despite announcements about maintaining both brands, has revealed that Paddy Power chief marketing officer Gav Thompson – hired only in April last year – is to step down.

His departure leaves Betfair CMO John Devitt as the senior marketing executive of the merged companies.

Devitt, who also has top management experience in Betfair’s M&A division, will reportedly head all marketing activity for the merged companies.

Thompson has yet to comment on his resignation, but joined Paddy Power prior to the announcement that it was to merge with Betfair.
