Gross revenue from slot machines at the state's 12 casinos rose 2.1% in January to USD 184.8M, compared to the USD 180.9M in gross revenue that was generated in January 2015, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced last week.

Prior to the winter storm blanketing most of Pennsylvania, slots casino revenue was up almost 5 percent when comparing the first 21 days of January 2016 against the same period in January 2015. While most casinos were able to remain open during the storm, difficulties for patrons in reaching the facilities led to weekend revenues that were much lower than normal.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse, owned by Penn National Gaming Inc., Wyomissing, had a gross slot revenue of $16.06 million in January, which was down 3.95 percent, or $661,098, when compared to January 2015.
