The Arizona Department of Gaming said contributions to the state from tribal gambling revenue will be about USD 15M for the quarter that ended on Dec. 31.
That’s a 6.9 percent increase when compared to the same quarter in 2014. Department of Gaming director Daniel Bergin said the increase for the sixth consecutive quarter is crucial for numerous programs.
He says about $7.5 million will go to the state’s Instructional Improvement Fund for education. Nearly $3.8 million will go to support trauma and emergency services.
Other funding is used for the department’s operating costs, state tourism and wildlife conservation.
Tribes with Class III casinos contribute 1 percent to 8 percent of gross gambling revenue to the state, cities, towns and counties.
