The 2nd Brasilian Gaming Congress will return in May 2016 with a continued relationship with Brazilian stakeholders, including CAIXA, SEAE and state lotteries.

As Brazil moves ahead in its legalization process, the general consensus exists amongst the key stakeholders that there is a favourable political climate for the government’s authorization of gaming in the country.

While various bills and legalization options are being considered, questions arise on the scope of regulation, possible regulatory framework and opportunities available to international and local companies.

Clarion Events has been closely monitoring the progress of regulation since the early 2013 when the idea of the 1st Brasilian Gaming Congress was conceptualized in close consultation with the Brazilian Ministry of Finance regulatory unit SEAE, the federal lottery CAIXA and some of the key companies on the ground, including Codere, Intralot, Lottomatica and PokerStars.

”Having closely followed the market, we feel that the time is right to offer an educational event to the market that will provide an update on the political and regulatory process, so that gaming businesses can prepare to take advantage of the opening of this hugely promising market. Political, regulatory and legal figures will gather at BgC Brazil to shed some light on where laws and regulations are going, with the capital Brazilia the likely venue”, said Liliana Costa, Clarion’s representative, in charge of Brazil.

“Stimulating the healthy discussion on the issue of gambling is one of Codere’s main goals. As a multinational, the company has a remarkable knowledge of this scenario for the various countries in which other modalities are legalized and contribute to local development by generating jobs and tax revenue. The debate undoubtedly contributes to the progress of the legalization, in order to meet the interests of the society as a whole,” said Andre Gelfi, Codere Brazil’s Director.

“I look forward to working closely with Clarion once again, following our cooperation in 2013. Clarion have been extremely persistent in engaging with key stakeholders in Brazil over the last two years and I have confidence that the event will help pave the way forward for regulation of gaming in the country and for the creation of fully controlled environment that can generate tax revenue to finance some of the charitable causes in Brazil and provide the needed job opportunities,” remarked Magnho José of BNL, the leading source of information on gaming and lottery in Brazil.
