What do you expect from this edition of ICE?
We are looking forward to ICE 2016, where we will be at stand N3-210. We expect to see a great deal of exciting new products on display throughout the exhibit hall for both land-based and iGaming segments of the industry.
We believe that the high volume of new products is mainly fueled by advancing technologies embraced by the gaming industry.
During ICE 2016, we will be working closely with regulators and clients from around the world, advising them about the new technologies and how these advances may impact their jurisdictions, given current regulation.
What products will you be showcasing?
We will be discussing our various technical and professional services with both regulators and suppliers. As we just mentioned, we will be advising regulators regarding new technologies on display.
Additionally, we will be speaking with suppliers about our continued worldwide commitment to provide unrivaled testing and compliance expertise to the gaming and lottery industry, which includes providing:
In addition, representatives from GLI’s strong global team of experts will be available to discuss and address industry questions regarding any jurisdiction or product. This is where GLI’s true global footprint assists our clients and/or future clients.
What will be the key trends in the gambling arena in 2016?
We believe that several trends will dominate 2016. Last year, we believed South America and Asia would lead gaming expansion, and the industry did not disappoint. We believe that this expansion trend will continue through 2016, and GLI will continue to infuse these areas of the world with resources.
In the North American region, we see increased development of skill-based games as well as movement in daily fantasy sports, eSports and other new, trendy ways that are geared toward younger generations playing games.
Will start-ups and small companies be able to survive the wave of industry mega-mergers?
We think that start-ups and smaller suppliers and operators will continue to thrive only if they are willing to fully commit to servicing their customers and create world-class content in the niche environments that they serve.
At the same time, it is clear that the larger companies, post merger, are focusing on efficiency and streamlining operations. GLI personalizes and scales services for nearly every supplier in the industry in order to give large and small clients the best chance of succeeding.
The gaming industry is going through deep changes. Why is it so important to come about with new legislation?
The gaming industry is not alone in experiencing regulatory change, and this change is a good thing. For instance, in our 20 laboratories around the world, we are seeing how suppliers are embracing new technologies and creating new products to attract and retain new types of players, which has a positive impact for suppliers and regulators.
We have seen periods of change like this before – for example, the move from embedded bill validators and TITO many years ago. Today, iGaming is moving from the computer desktop to various mobile devices. Player demand for exciting content is still at a peak, and we believe that rapid innovation in technology has potential to continue to fulfill this demand. We continue to work with regulators all over the world in examining their existing regulations so they may decide what new technologies they will allow in the future and what regulators or laws, if any, need to be written or revised to accommodate technological advancements.
Our local and global experts provide this highly customized service to government bodies and their appointed regulators. In short, we recognize that every client is different and deserves distinctive, individualized and targeted solutions.
