The Barcelona casino resort development that Melco International Development is applying for and owned by Macau Casino boss Lawrence Ho may be delayed further.

Delays may happen due to the goverment concerns on environmental and urban impact from the resort. Melco informed the Hong Kong stock exchange that the development “is dependent on the approval” of the master plan for the new tourism and entertainment area, prepared by the regional government.

A tender process in auction will take place for the exclusive license which Melco currently is favourite to win, however delays could push the whole process into 2017 before any movement on the development is seen.
