Mississippi casino revenues rose in November, fueled by strong performance on the Gulf Coast.
State Revenue Department figures released last week show casinos won $161 million in November, up 3 percent from $156 million in November 2014.
The 11 coastal casinos won $91 million, up 10 percent from last year. The Scarlet Pearl casino in D'Iberville opened Dec. 10, boosting coastal casinos to 12.
The 16 Mississippi River casinos won $70 million, down 5 percent from November 2014.
November was the seventh month this year that revenue rose statewide, as improving conditions along the coast outweigh declines along the river. Mississippi is on track to post a gambling revenue gain for only the second time in eight years.
Numbers exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which don't report winnings to the state.
