The Armenian National Assembly passed at the first reading amendments to the law on gambling on advertisement.

The bill proposes to tighten control over gambling on the Internet. Vakhtang Mirumyan, deputy finance minister, said the amendments imply prohibition of advertising Internet games with prizes on television and radio.

He said the bill also implies improvement of control mechanisms. “In particular, it is planned to restrict gambling commercials to prevent people’s passion for gambling and to create equal market conditions for all companies doing such businesses, since it is prohibited now to advertise gambling in casinos.”
