Online slots good for Spain’s third quarter

Spain’s gaming authority Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) reported encouraging figures for the market this week boosted by the introduction of online slots.

Total gross gaming revenues totalled Euro 84.2 million, an increase of 36% growth year-on-year.

As a consequence of the award of 29 online slot licenses, casino revenues leapt 114% to Euro 18.1 million. Casino contributed 21.5% of total online revenue and 32.6% of total online gambling turnover in the third quarter.

The online sports betting sector delivered revenues 46% up year-on-year to Euro 49.4 million and now accounts for 58.7% of total online revenue.

Online poker and bingo didn’t fare as well as revenues dropped 16% to Euro 14.4 million and 12 percent to Euro 1.8 million respectively. Poker accounts 17.1% of total revenue and bingo 2.1%.

Advertising spend rose 42% to Euro 18 million while operators boosted bonus offers by almost 200 %, the DGOJ said.
