Philippines-based Bloomberry Resorts Corp. said that a regulator had imposed a one-month suspension on the company's casino operations on South Korea's Jeju Island.

The resort island's gambling regulator, known as CRD, is penalizing the casino for its previous management's actions regarding the payment of tourism tax, the company said.

The casino-and-resorts operator recently acquired Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino. The hotel operation isn't affected by the suspension, Bloomberry said.

The company said the suspension period, which starts Nov. 16, would be used to complete renovations and an upgrade of the gambling floor. Bloomberry said the casino would reopen on Dec. 16, in time for the winter holidays peak season.
