Casinos Austria International has opened its new casino in the recently opened Hilton Hotel Batumi in the Autonomous Georgian Republic of Adjara.

A key seaport on the Black Sea, and university town, Batumi is prized to become a major tourism centre and gaming hotspot in the region.

Batumi is attracting increasing numbers of visitors from neighboring countries, many of whom enjoy a night at the casino. We are in the fortunate position of having been able to enter this market early with strong partners,” said Karl Stoss, Casinos Austria Director General.

For Casinos Austria International, the new casino in Batumi is not only a project with strong potential, it is also an important signal. “We have had to work tirelessly in recent years to consolidate our business and address legacy issues. It is a good feeling to be taking the lead again and to be starting something new,” said Karl Stoss, Casinos Austria Director General.

Designed by architect Hans-Peter Schaffner, Casino International Batumi will create 180 jobs and is estimated to welcome around 90,000 guests per year. Some €2.5m have been invested in the casino, with the project realized in cooperation with a group of investors, who themselves also invested around €60m in the construction of the Hilton Hotel.

This group is currently also working on a further tourism project in Batumi: a huge entertainment park at the top of the 252-meter-high Anuria mountain on the outskirts of the city. Due to open next year, this project also has Austrian connections; the cable car that will take guests up to the park will be supplied by the Austrian firm Doppelmayr.

“We were approached about three years ago by a group of investors. Our analysis quickly confirmed the strong potential, and so we accepted the offer and grasped the opportunity,” said Alexander Tucek, Casinos Austria International CEO.
