How was the 2015 G2E for Scientific Games?
G2E Las Vegas could not have gone better for us. Usually, when it comes to these trade shows, you can't tell the results until afterwards, but we knew from the first day of G2E that we had achieved an excellent showing—one that impressed our customers and showcased our position as a leader in the industry. We featured our gaming machines and game content, proprietary table games, shufflers, electronic table games, slot systems, lottery products, and interactive portfolio across the entire gaming floor. We demonstrated that we're both supporting our legacy platforms with depth of content and innovating with new platforms and content; we have 17 licensed brands that complement our existing portfolio, and we've introduced our TwinStar cabinet, which shows the future of our new operating system and supports content from our Bally and WMS brands.
What is Scientific Games' mission?
Our mission is to empower our customers by creating the world's best gaming and lottery experiences. Our leaders are driven by this mission and our plans for the future are guided by it. At G2E, we showed that we can provide the best content and the best service as we lead the industry in innovation.
At the CEO Roundtable, Mr. Mark Frissora said that there was a lack of innovation in casino games. What are your thoughts on this?
There's huge innovation in casino games – just look across the G2E show floor this year. We're expanding our portfolio to include games that will appeal to all ages and different types of players and every player preference – even Millennials. We constantly implement new themes, game mechanics, and design elements in our products that haven’t been seen before, leading to popular technologies that couldn’t have happened five or 10 years ago. Our new Simpsons game is an excellent example. On our new Gamescape cabinet, it has an integrated sound bar for an amazing sensory experience, a tablet button panel, and, of course, a theme based on the longest running TV show of all time. This industry offers plenty of opportunities for growth if you do it properly and sustainably.
How do you take the best of Bally, Shuffle Master, and WMS?
We do it through good planning, good product management, clear direction and total respect for each other. We're ONE company.
Our customers and players love our brands. It’s essential that we maintain this loyalty as we look for new ways to integrate content and create brand new experiences with our existing portfolio. TwinStar leads this charge—it’s a new cabinet that supports content from Bally and WMS. It’s truly the best of both worlds.
G2E marked a new beginning for us as a combined company. We now have to capitalize on that, lead the industry, and work with our customers to provide greater entertainment to players and ensure the industry’s long-term growth and sustainability.
What are the main differences between ICE and G2E?
ICE is primarily focused on European markets and interactive, while G2E is more of a land-based show.
Will you be exhibiting at SAGSE Buenos Aires?
We will attend SAGSE Buenos Aires and look forward to seeing our customers and partners at the conference and social events; however, we will not exhibit this year.
