Heber announced the new Pluto A400 gaming controller based on the latest AMD Embedded R-Series SOC processor (formerly code named “Merlin Falcon”) that was launched Tuesday.

Designed for demanding embedded needs, the new Embedded R-Series SOC processor incorporates AMD’s newest generation x86 64-bit CPU core (“Excavator”), third-generation Graphics Core Next GPU architecture, and state-of-the-art power management for reduced energy consumption, to enable industry-leading performance and key embedded features for next-generation designs.

The Pluto A400 is a small form-factor gaming platform that supports three display ports and two SO-DIMM slots of DDR4 memory.

It also supports seven USB ports, four serial ports, high definition audio 5.1 channels, two Gigabit LAN ports, and a PCIe x 16 graphics expansion slot. In addition, the Pluto A400 provides a new Heber-defined I/O slot connector that will support a range of new USB and PCIe gaming I/O products.

The AMD Embedded R-Series SOC architecture provides astounding graphics and multimedia performance. High End AMD Radeon graphics provided on-chip also allows users to take advantage of Heterogeneous Systems Architecture (HSA) technology for the heaviest compute tasks. With the latest generation AMD Radeon™ graphics as well as the latest multimedia technology integrated on-chip means that the AMD Embedded R-Series SOC provides enhanced GPU performance and supports High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) for full 4K decode and DirectX® 12.

“We’re pleased that Heber, one of the world’s leading designers of electronic systems, has selected the new AMD Embedded R-Series SOC for their new high-end gaming controller, said Scott Aylor, corporate vice president and general manager, AMD Embedded Solutions. “With its high-performance, low-power architecture with superior graphics and compute capabilities, the new processor is ideal for demanding gaming controllers such as the Pluto A400.”

“Heber, an AMD technology partner, is very pleased to announce the Pluto A400 gaming controller based on the new AMD Embedded R-Series SOC processor. This processor provides us with the highest performing gaming platform we have ever tested,” said Les AshtonSmith, Managing Director of Heber

Pricing and availability – Heber will be announcing pricing and production availability of the Pluto A400 system on Nov 2nd 2015.
