Pennsylvania could be edging nearer to legalizing online gambling as Governor Tom Wolf lost a major test vote on his budget plans giving supporters an opportunity to bring online gambling back to the forefront in an attempt to bring in fresh tax revenues as opposed to raising taxes.

Now into 100 days of budget negotiations which are now seeing state schools borrow money to stay open while lawmakers wrangle over the budget Governor Tom Wolf said all tax options are on the table in an effort to break the deadlock.

Losing his vote for tax rises by 127-73 and with lawmakers on both sides of the house mentioning expanding gambling to bring in some estimated $200 million to $500 million there has now never been a better opportunity for online gambling to be a reality in Pennsylvania.

All parties have pledged to sit down over the coming week and work on an acceptable tax budget to be able to get it passed, how successful online gambling will be is still unclear, but what is sure is that support for expanding gambling is preferred by many as opposed to tax rises for residents.
