The city of Boston has filed another lawsuit in its attempts to derail a planned USD 1.7 B casino in neighboring Everett. The lawsuit filed Monday challenges the validity of a key certification that Wynn Resorts needs to begin construction of the casino.

The Boston Globe reports that the complaint filed in Suffolk Superior Court asks a judge to invalidate the environmental certification for the casino approved last month by the state secretary of energy and environmental affairs.

The suit says Wynn and Secretary Matthew Beaton glossed over or ignored substantial concerns about how the resort casino and hotel would affect traffic, especially in Charlestown.

A Wynn spokesman, saying the company had not received the complaint, called the suit "an unproductive way for the city to engage in a dialogue with our company."
