PokerStars has received a Remote Bookmaker’s License from the Republic of Ireland’s betting regulator, the Irish Revenue Commissioners, allowing it to offer sports betting to players in Ireland under local laws.

Using the PokerStars website, players in Ireland have access to sports and will not experience any changes in the software or services. As a consequence of obtaining this license, PokerStars will now pay local betting duty to the Government of the Republic of Ireland.

Ahead of the new football season across Europe, PokerStars continues to expand sports betting options, with 18 sports and an increasing number of promotions now available. More markets, features and sports (including horse racing) are coming soon!

“We’re very pleased to receive a license for our sports betting offering on PokerStars in Ireland,” said Stephen Fisk, managing director of sports betting for PokerStars. “Our operation of poker, casino games, and now sports betting shows that players trust us to deliver a variety of games in a fun and exciting way. We look forward to building on this by operating under this new license.”
