Winnings from slot machines were up 6% at Mohegan Sun in April but down 2.7% at the Foxwoods Resort Casino compared with the same month last year.
The two tribes that own the giant casinos in southeastern Connecticut are proposing to team up and build new casinos to help protect their business from growing competition in nearby states. Legislation that would authorize new casinos is pending in the state General Assembly.
The Day of New London reports that revenue in April totaled $49.5 million for Mohegan Sun and $38.7 million for Foxwoods.
The tribes are required to hand over a quarter of their slot-machine revenue to the state of Connecticut. Mohegan Sun sent $12.5 million to the state last month and Foxwoods contributed $10.2 million.
