Danish authorities have received approval from the European Commission to introduce a number of modifications to current online gaming legislation in the country, including full legalization of daily fantasy sports.

Denmark has been keen to expand its gambling market after recording significant expansion over the past two years.
Amended legislation will enhance current measures against money laundering, modify the taxation applied to licensed operators and create a new licence that will specifically target daily fantasy sports operators.

Operators that generate revenue of more than KR100 million (€13.4 million/$15 million) will have to pay an increased licence fee while those under this amount will benefit from a lower fee.

Danish authorities have stated that the amended legislation could attract new operators to the country and help create new markets within the domestic industry.
