The Siena Hotel Spa Casino in downtown Reno is changing hands for the second time in its 14-year history.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that Grand Siena LLC said it has agreed sell the eight-story, 214-room property on the Truckee River at an undisclosed price.

A Monday news release from Grand Siena says the deal is expected to close this summer.

The release does not identify the buyer but says the new owner plans a multimillion-dollar renovation and will partner with an internationally recognized hotel and resort brand.

Grand Siena said employees will be able to interview for positions under the new owner.

Since it opened in summer 2001, the Tuscany-themed Siena has struggled. The 9/11 attacks, the growth of tribal gaming in California and the Great Recession contributed to the resort's woes.
