Official numbers from the Delaware online gambling regulator show an encouraging uptick for February, with an 8.3% month-over-month rise in revenues.

Delaware e-gaming sites took in $143,101 in February ($132,074 in the preceding month), but the number is still well down on the best month since regulation – April 2014 – when revenues reached $240,762 at the three licensed online gambling websites.

Poker performed well, generating $34,526 despite a short 28-day month and improving on the preceding month, when revenues reached $27,695.

The poker numbers will hopefully rise more sharply following Delaware’s pooling of players with Nevada, which went into effect third week of March.

Operator Delaware Park remains the market leader in the First State and holds a 78 percent market share.

The regulator reported that 274 new player accounts were opened in February, a month-on-month decline of 4.5 percent, bringing total Delaware player registrations since legalisation to 10,098 from a state population of around 900,000.

The low number in February could be illustrative of a drop-off in interest when compared with player sign-ups in the opening month of the market, which reached 2,654.
