Interactive gaming software and services provider GTECH has appointed former IBM executive Neil Abrams as its new senior vice-president and general counsel.

In his new role, Abrams will assume responsibility for all legal and corporate governance matters for the company and report directly to executive vice-president and chief financial officer, Alberto Fornano.

Abrams joins GTECH having most recently served as vice-president and assistant general counsel at IBM.

Prior to this, he managed IBM’s mergers and acquisition legal staff, as well as the corporation’s contracts development organisation, and served as chief legal officer for IBM’s software business.

“As GTECH prepares for the imminent acquisition of IGT, and we begin listing on the New York Stock Exchange, our legal team will play a critical role ensuring we successfully navigate these changes and opportunities,” Fornaro said.

“Neil’s lengthy and transformative experience with IBM, combined with his strong customer focus, will provide GTECH with the depth and expertise needed to meet these objectives.”
