Seneca Gaming Corp. has made changes at the top. Catherine Walker is out as president and CEO, and the board has shifted her duties to Audrey Oswell, the chief operating officer.

Seneca Gaming is a Niagara Falls-based gambling company owned by the Seneca Nation of Indians. The company runs the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, as well as gambling facilities in Buffalo and Salamanca.

Walker joined Seneca Gaming in 2008 as its COO. In April 2009, she was named the company’s acting principal executive officer, and in summer 2010, she was named president and CEO.

Oswell will remain COO and add her other responsibilities for now, said Phil Pantano, a Seneca Gaming spokesman.

Oswell joined Seneca Gaming as COO in 2013, bringing with her 30 years of experience in the industry. Just before joining Seneca Gaming, she was chief gaming officer at Atlantis, on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. She also held senior management roles at Resorts International and Caesar’s in Atlantic City, N.J., and the Cosmopolitan and Fontainbleu Resort in Las Vegas.

Seneca Gaming did not say why it was making the leadership change. Pantano said the company would not make additional comments, calling it a “personnel matter.”

Seneca Gaming has 4,000 employees at its three area locations, which include gambling facilities, hotels and a golf course.
Before joining Seneca Gaming, Walker held leadership roles with Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts and Harrahs.
