The developers of a proposed Foxwoods casino in New Bedford are requesting more time to file remaining application materials with the state.

KG Urban spokesman Andrew Paven said Monday that the New York-based development company remains in negotiations with New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell's administration.

KG Urban wants to build the casino on the site of a former power plant, but the mayor has concerns about the proposal's layout and design. Paven says the company and mayor's office jointly filed the extension request.

Monday was a deadline for applicants seeking the state's final resort casino license to file any remaining application documents.

A spokeswoman said the state Gaming Commission would not comment until after the 5 p.m. deadline. Two other applicants have proposed casinos for Somerset and Brockton.
